Crafting a Global, Hyper-Localized Shopping Experience for Luminia: Tailored Solutions for Seamless Market Expansion

Luminia is a premium brand specializing in luxury, eco-friendly candles and home fragrances. Founded on a commitment to health and sustainability, Luminia offers products made from natural ingredients and recyclable materials. As Luminia continues to expand its global reach, the brand needed a sophisticated, localized, and performance-optimized ecommerce platform to cater to its diverse customer base across multiple regions. Luminia’s website required a seamless shopping experience that could adapt to different markets, languages, and user preferences, and this is how Kloc helped revamp and elevate their online platform.

The Goal

Luminia aimed to create a personalized shopping experience for customers in Slovakia, Czechia, and the rest of the world. The primary objectives included:

  • Setting up distinct markets with unique pricing, shipping, and gift options.
  • Ensuring language translation for hyper localization based on user location
  • Implementing advanced filtering without compromising website speed.
  • Developing custom features such as product personalization and wishlists, all while minimizing the use of third-party apps.

The Solution

To meet Luminia’s goals, we provided a comprehensive solution that focused on market-specific customization, performance optimization, and seamless user experience across all devices. Our approach involved:

  • Shopify Markets Setup: We configured three distinct markets—Slovakia, Czechia, and the rest of the world—each with tailored product pricing, shipping options, and gift pricing.
  • Language Localization: We leveraged Shopify’s “Translate and Adapt” feature for automatic language translation, complemented by manual translation of critical elements like products, collections, and metafields to ensure accuracy.
  • Advanced Filtering: Using Shopify’s native filtering features, we carefully structured metafields to provide advanced filtering capabilities without the need for third-party apps, maintaining optimal site speed.
  • Auto-Redirect by IP: Implemented an auto-redirect feature using Shopify’s JSON API, directing customers to their respective market based on their IP location.
  • Custom Product Personalization: Developed a custom-coded solution for product personalization with additional charges, eliminating the need for external apps.
  • Data Migration: Executed a complex data migration from WordPress using Make.com and Scraping-bee to manage and organize custom fields and metafields within Shopify.

Technical Decisions:

Our technical strategy centered around maximizing performance while minimizing dependencies on third-party apps. This included:

  • Custom Code Development: We custom-coded several features, such as the free shipping bar and wishlist UI, to ensure consistency with Luminia’s design language and to avoid the performance overhead of external apps.
  • Localized Invoicing and Emails: Created three distinct templates for invoices and emails, ensuring customers received communications in their native language based on their location.
  • GLS Shipping Integration: To streamline the order fulfillment process, we set up a new myGLS account due to the absence of API access from the client. By integrating the GLS app with Shopify, orders are automatically sent to GLS, and packing slips are generated within the app, ensuring efficient and reliable shipping operations tailored for European markets. This integration was crucial for maintaining smooth logistics and enhancing customer satisfaction across Luminia’s European markets.

Given Luminia’s focus on design and user experience, we ensured that every custom feature, from the wishlist page to the free shipping bar, matched the brand’s aesthetic. The design was kept consistent across all markets, with particular attention to:

Wishlist Customization & Localized User Expereince :

To ensure a consistent and seamless user experience across all markets, special attention was given to the wishlist functionality. Although the wishlist app had its own default UI with limited customization options, we tailored it to meet Luminia’s design requirements. Given the client’s high standards for design consistency across all pages, we customized the wishlist to align perfectly with the brand’s aesthetic. Additionally, we localized the wishlist feature to display products based on the user’s location, maintaining a uniform and cohesive UI that matched the rest of the site.

The Outcome

The implementation of these tailored solutions resulted in a robust, high-performance Shopify store that met Luminia’s needs for market-specific customization and localization. The store now offers:

  • A smooth, personalized shopping experience for customers in different regions.
  • Optimized site speed with minimal reliance on third-party apps.
  • Consistent UI/UX across all markets, contributing to increased customer satisfaction and engagement.
